Known for his pinpoint accuracy, calm under pressure, and outspoken personality off the field, Rodgers became a cultural figure well beyond football — which is exactly why his paths crossed with stars from other sports. How Aaron Rodgers and Serena Williams Met
Aaron Rodgers and Serena Williams met backstage at the Bitcoin 2022 Conference in Miami on April 7, 2022. The event, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, drew over 30,000 attendees and featured a surprising lineup of celebrity panelists from the sports world. Serena was there as a speaker and businesswoman — by then she was deeply involved in investing through her firm Serena Ventures — while Rodgers appeared as one of several NFL stars expressing enthusiasm for the booming Bitcoin market.
The two champions ran into each other backstage, and Serena decided to film the encounter for her Instagram Story. What followed was a short, funny, and completely unscripted exchange that instantly went viral across sports media, from Tennis.com to Bleacher Report and Sports Illustrated.
The Viral Instagram Video: “She’s Baaack”
In the Instagram Story clip, Serena told the camera: “I’m backstage at the Bitcoin conference in Miami with Aaron Rodgers here, and we’ve been talking about my comeback. He’s been hyping me up, getting me ready for Wimbledon. Can’t wait!” Rodgers, pointing at her, called her “the GOAT” — and then delivered the line that became the headline: “she’s baaack.”
The comedy came when Rodgers asked about the US Open, not realizing the tennis calendar order. “Wimbledon?” he said, surprised. Serena laughed and explained: “Yeah, I thought you knew? Wimbledon’s before the US Open — I gotta play Wimbledon first!” The clip charmed fans because it showed two all-time greats being genuinely goofy together — the NFL legend schooling himself on tennis scheduling while hyping up the tennis legend.
The timing mattered, too. Serena had not played a tour match since retiring injured in the first round of Wimbledon 2021, and rumors were swirling that she might retire after her longtime coach Patrick Mouratoglou announced he would work with Simona Halep. The video was Serena’s playful way of shutting down retirement talk — and she did return to play Wimbledon in 2022. Williams, like other athletes in stories such as Serena Williams and Richard Liu, has a habit of making headlines whenever she crosses paths with fellow icons.
Why People Search “Aaron Rodgers and Serena Williams”
Most people searching for Aaron Rodgers and Serena Williams together are looking for one of three things: the viral 2022 video, whether the two are friends or dating (they are friendly acquaintances — nothing more), or comparisons of their “GOAT” credentials across sports. The clip resurfaces whenever either athlete is in the news, and it remains one of the most replayed athlete-crossover moments of the decade. Their meeting was a perfect collision of two worlds — NFL stardom and tennis royalty — at an event neither sport would have predicted.
Recent Updates
Since that 2022 meeting, both athletes have moved into new chapters. Serena Williams announced in August 2022 that she was “evolving away” from tennis, playing her final competitive matches at that year’s US Open before focusing on her family and her growing investment portfolio. Aaron Rodgers continued his NFL career beyond Green Bay, remaining one of the league’s most discussed figures on and off the field. The two have not had another public moment together since the Bitcoin conference — but the “she’s baaack” clip lives on as a fan favorite.
